On an org's detail page, you can associate the org with a firm and set whether billing is direct (client pays) or firm-sponsored (firm pays). This guide covers both.
π‘ Tip β Who can use this For platform admins, on an org's detail page (Firm Association section).
Quick reference
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Associate a firm and set the billing owner |
Step 1 β Manage firm association and billing owner
In the Firm Association section:
- Associate a firm β choose a firm from the dropdown. The org then appears as a client on that firm's portal. Choosing "No firm" archives the org's active workspace.
- Set billing owner β choose Direct (the client pays the platform directly and appears in platform revenue) or Firm (the firm sponsors the client; the client is excluded from platform revenue and sees a "Plan Managed by Your Firm" notice).
π Note β Firm association and billing owner are independent You can associate a firm while keeping billing direct, or set billing to firm-sponsored. They're separate controls β associating a firm doesn't automatically make the client firm-sponsored.
π‘ Tip β Set billing owner deliberately The billing owner affects both the client's experience (whether they see upgrade options) and platform revenue accounting. Set it based on who's actually paying, not just on the firm association.
